Three emitters, three sources, one right combination.

Most heating problems in Barcelona apartments come from the same mistake — the emitter and the source were never matched. A 70 °C radiator on a heat pump is inefficient. An underfloor circuit on a high-temp boiler is wasteful. Pere does the room-by-room calc and pairs the system properly so the bill stays low and the comfort stays high.

Radiators — retrofit standard

Aluminium low-temp radiators sized to a 50 °C design flow. Easy retrofit when the floor stays — typical 5-8 days for a full apartment. Pairs with condensing boiler or with a heat pump if specified low-temp from day one.

Underfloor — comfort standard

PEX circuits in 5-7 cm self-levelling screed, manifold per zone, room-by-room control. Best comfort, low temperature (35-45 °C), perfect partner for a heat pump. Requires the floor to come up — fits with a major reform.

Heat pump — modern source

Air-to-water aerotermia with 200-300 L hot-water tank, COP 4.5+ at A+++, low-temp emitters, photovoltaic-ready output. Replaces the gas boiler. Subject to comunidad approval for the outdoor unit on facade or terrace.

Yes, often. Air-to-water (aerotermia) replaces the gas boiler with a heat pump on the terrace, roof or facade. Pairs perfectly with underfloor heating because both run at 35-45 °C. Subject to comunidad approval for the outdoor unit (vibration, noise, facade aesthetic) and possibly to photovoltaic if you go off-grid. ICAEN and NextGen subsidies cover up to 40-60% in some cases.
Yes. Butlletí d'instal·lació tèrmica signed by Pere or by a registered installer if it's gas. Required for the cèdula d'habitabilitat renewal and for selling the apartment. We file the butlletí with the Generalitat industrial registry as part of the project, no separate charge.
Room by room — surface area, exterior exposure, glazing area and U-value, wall insulation, floor and ceiling losses, building age. We use the IDAE method (Spanish energy institute), not catalogue defaults. Output: emitter sizing per room and a single-line schematic with hydraulic balancing values, both go in the handover folder.
Radiators full apartment: 5-8 working days. Underfloor heating: 8-12 days plus the screed cure (3-7 days before tile or parquet can go on). Heat pump: 4-6 days for the unit + 2-3 weeks for the comunidad authorisation if needed. Inside a turnkey reform the heating happens during first-fix and adds no separate calendar time.
Yes. ICAEN (Catalan energy institute) plus Next-Generation EU funds cover up to 40-60% of the heat-pump cost in many cases — especially when the source is replacing fossil-fuel heating.
